School Closure – Friday 2nd March

Dear Parents
We have closely monitored the weather forecast for today and whilst there has been little snow there is the possibility of the current conditions to become much more treacherous by tomorrow, the problem will likely be more ice/ windchill factor rather than snow. I have decided to enforce school closure all day on Friday 2nd March. I have made this decision early to allow parents to make arrangement for childcare as I know many of our parents have work commitments.
The decision to close the school has not been taken lightly and as you know we have been open when most schools in the area were closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Health and safety is always paramount and we were able to function without risks on the days we have been open. Thank you to parents, pupils and staff who have shown true determination to get to school especially as teachers had planned really good Book Week activities.
Chris Connaughton, the author booked for Friday has now been rescheduled for Wednesday 8th March. Children may dress up in their book character costumes on this day as I know many were disappointed they could not wear their outfits today.
Please take care when out and about. We will resume normal activities from Monday 5th March.
If possible, I hope you can use the day to enjoy the snow with your children but please stay safe!
Best Wishes
Mrs Ali
