Welcome to Essendene Lodge Preparatory School and Nursery.

I hope the website will give you a flavour of our happy, family friendly school. We pride ourselves on providing your child with a happy, safe and caring learning environment so that boys and girls can enjoy school. Our purpose is to provide educational excellence coupled with high expectations to enable your child to succeed and achieve their potential. Essendene Lodge children are happy children and take pride in talking about their school and their unique experiences during their time with us. Children leave us with fond memories where they have experienced mixed age working, learned the life skills of emotional and social intelligence as awareness of careers and mental health and wellbeing. Our academic prowess speaks for itself with many children gaining entry and/or scholarships into prestigious senior schools. Several children also gain entry into grammar schools as a result of the exam preparation offered to them from Year 5. Our most recent inspection found Essendene Lodge School and Nursery to be excellent in all areas.

We offer our pupils’ a wide range of activities and opportunities designed to promote excellence, success, confidence and self-esteem; the solid foundations of literacy and numeracy are supported with a full and comprehensive curriculum such as science, art, music, drama, sports, swimming and languages. There are many extracurricular clubs outside of the school day as well as wrap around care for all age groups.

We combine tradition with technology as all classes are installed with apple TV’s and every child has their very own I-pad. A great deal of attention is paid to the teaching of traditional values such as kindness, good manners, team work and mutual respect. We are an inclusive school and our commitment to small class sizes means learning can be personalised to meet the needs of the individual.

Our teachers are committed and dedicated where they put the child at the heart of everything they do. Pupils, parents and staff take pride in being a part of the Essendene Community, a community where we all know each other. Our school is a very special place to be. We believe in working in partnership with parents/carers so that children can have the best possible start to their learning journey and be ready to fully transition as rounded and fulfilled individuals when they transfer to senior schools.
